Burrard Bridge - Mid Summer

Finally I have time to dig out some of the old pictures I took during summer (as a great contrast to the gloomy weather we are experiencing now). This is a pre-fireworks teaser on English Bay. The day was so gorgeous that the blue sky reflected clearly how dirty my lens was.

Celebration of Lights 2007 - China

Here comes the fireworks photos again. This time I took them @ Vanier Park instead. The background has more to decorate the picture, only if I can get it tack sharp with a remote!! hahaha. o well, it is a nice exercise again!
China really outdone Canada man! So nice! Especially the one on the side to accompany the big one in the last couple of fireworks. It is so grand. At least I enjoyed this more than the Canada one!

Celebration of Lights 2007 - Canada

It was a lot of fun, not only was the shoot fun and exciting, but also the bros and sis that were there with me waiting since 5:00pm.. it was fun boys and gals... thanks!

Since it was my first attempt to capture fireworks, obviously there are lots of ways for improvements. It was harder than I thought: the exposure, the lighting, the timing that each bomb explodes, the framing to make the photo less boring etc...
wa... all of these will happen in split seconds! Imagine how accurate I have to be for each shot!
Here are some sample pictures... those that can show... hahah. Enjoy.
By the way, just want to thank you Don for sponsoring his tripod : P

Nikon D70, Nikkor 17-55 f2.8 ED IF AFS DX

Should the aperture set to larger? should the ISO be jagged up further to 800? How can I improve the framing when all there we can see is the stunning "light"? Seems like some images are not as sharp as I think, may be the shutter release was pressed for too long? huumm.. something to think about.

The journey to capturing moments

It is going to be a long journey to learn how to capture moments. Here is some candid shots in one Sunny July.
